This book is my bible when it comes to this excellent breed of dog. I am so proud to own 2 of this fine breed. This book has been able to answer all my question from care of my new litter of pups to my very first interest of where these dogs came from. I have found that the book is very accqurate in the information regarding personality as well as other info. about this breed. You can't go wrong. I would also like to thank the author of the book and the many people who gave this sweet and special breed a 2nd chance at life. I can't imagine my life without my Porty babies.

Concepts and Cases in Retail and Merchandise Management

Down to earth cases and solutions for retail
This book opens with a case study of a buyer's squabble about over whose territory it is to buy a certain dress. Then we get the solution and action plan about the squabble. Who in retail has not experienced this. Yet it is refreshing to hear the solution, and to read the rest of the excellent case studies in the book.

My retail business is not a department store, yet every case study in this book was relevent to my business. The authors cover display, direct import, vendor relationships, budgets, purchasing and pricing strategies, marketing, hiring practices, and everything pertinant to retail today.

It is difficult to find a good book on retail strategies. There are hundreds of books on marketing, but only a few that cover the purchasing side of retailing. This is the best purchasing book I have found.

The Conjure Woman
Published in School & Library Binding by Atheneum (January, 1996)
Authors: William Miller and Terea D. Shaffer
Average review score:

Spiritually Incandescent
Set among the Nankani people of Ghana this book tells the story of little Toby who is very sick with a high fever. His worried parents bring him to see the Conjure Woman who uses the ancient folk magic and healing techniques of her people to help him recover. This beautiful and moving picture book is filled with the peace and grace of a confident and living faith. It makes a wonderful tale without being the least bit preachy while at the same time conveys with few words the centered and focused spirituality of an African Conjure Woman. The illustrations are vibrant and warm and show the careful loving ministrations of several "old ones" including one young girl not much older than Toby. Various natural healing methods are shown including several brilliant pictures of the out-of-body travels of the Conjure Woman and Toby as they go to visit the ancestors. There is so much obvious love within these pages and a deep resonate spirituality that is a profound force for goodness and unity. This book will benefit any reader, child or adult, regardless of one's personal religious path, who is interested in a healed and loving planet.

Connecting with the Arcturians
Published in Paperback by Planetary Heart Publications (12 May, 1998)
Author: David K. Miller
Average review score:

A Clear & Practical Channel
Having read several of the books on beings from other star-systems, this is the one I found most practical and straightforward. The book is a compilation of channeled sessions by the author with groups and individuals. Since the sessions are taped and transcribed, the book gives a good sense of David Miller's channeled sessions, which I have heard several times and consistently found positive and useful. The entities he channels always seem to speak with the benefit of the listener in mind, and that compassionate wisdom comes through in this book. The choice of material for the book covers the title but also goes beyond it into related areas. The book's explanations of human spiritual evolution, our place in the cosmos, our connection with higher forces and the ascension process were both clear and uplifting. For anyone interested in writings by contemporary channels, this book is a very good place to start.

Conte Maggi's Mille Miglia
Published in Hardcover by Palgrave Macmillan (November, 1988)
Author: Peter Miller
Average review score:

Conte Maggi's Mille Miglia
During its thirty years of existence, from 1927 to 1957, the Mille Miglia was considered "the greatest road race in the world." In his book Peter Miller has captured the spirit of this great event with over 150 photographs - many of which have never been published, and contributions from Stirling Moss, Piero Taruffi, Alfred Neubauer and the Contessa di Maggi. Miller has produced a family album because when the race was held all the drivers were treated as family and the event took on the feeling of a family reunion at the Maggis' Calino villa. The story of the Mille Miglia is the story of one man's dream, Conte Aymo Maggi with the help of three friends sought to revenge the loss of the Italian Grand Prix to Milan by creating the worlds greatest road race for sports cars. They wanted to spur the Italian motor industry out of its doldrums and bring publicity to Brescia. The four musketeers as they were known decided on a race from Brescia to Rome and back to Brescia. The distance of approximately 1600 kilometers converted to 1000 miles which had a nice ring to it. One of the four Franco Mazzotti remarked that the Roman legions used to calculate their marches in miles "so why don't we call it a race for the Coppa della Mille Miglia?" Renzo Castegneto, who would become Maggi's right hand man and the one responsible for the organization of the race came up with the famous symbol of the red arrow emblazoned with the words 1000 MIGLIA.

Chapters such as Race Hazards, the Final Lap and The Man Who Loved Life bring back echoes of a long gone age. Peter Miller describes all of the problems that had to be overcome each year the race was run, the politics and the rivalries that are a part of Italian daily life are all described in an engaging style. We learn of Conte Maggi's own racing exploits as one of the leading Italian drivers of the 20's. The race would take more and more of his energy and he discontinued driving. In the end it was said that he died of a broken heart when his race was banned after 1957.
